Fingrid is the company responsible for the functioning of Finland’s power system.

This means that we are closely involved in developing our society, as our operations have a direct impact on the well-being and daily lives of Finns.

We understand that we hold in our hands a great societal responsibility. This is why we take this responsibility very seriously in all of our daily operations and financial issues. We are proud to declare that our company’s credit rating is very high. We are among Finland’s top payers of corporate income tax and the dividends we pay go to the Finnish state and pension companies. We look after our clients’ best interests by ensuring that grid fees remain affordable. Our owners receive a reasonable return.

Approximately 75 per cent of the electricity consumed in Finland passes through the transmission grid.

Our main task is to transmit electricity through the transmission grid from production facilities to local distribution companies. These, in turn, distribute electricity to end users. Approximately 75 per cent of the electrical energy consumed in Finland passes through the transmission grid. We make sure that electricity distribution remains disturbance-free and that its production remains in balance in terms of consumption. To enable this, the electricity network is maintained and built continuously. We are also aware that the world is changing and that digitalisation plays an ever greater role in people’s lives. We are skilled at reaping its benefits. We achieve this by continuously creating a more efficient and safe electricity system.

One of Fingrid’s key tasks is to promote the electricity markets. We facilitate this by maintaining transmission connections between countries. The transfer and sale of electricity takes place on the open markets. Our company has direct links from Finland to Sweden, Norway, Estonia and Russia. Common European electricity markets that function efficiently also benefit each and every consumer.
